Umpqua Bank Jr. Small Business Solutions Manager in Eureka, California

In this role, you will originate small business loans and deposits through partnership with stores and assist stores with growing small business relationships, as it relates to support of cash-management solutions. Stores will refer small business lending customers to the "Small Business Solutions Manager" to determine needs and originate and act as customer point of contact for small business credits over $50,000 up to retail small business lending credit limits.


  • Develop revenue generating small business client relationships by handling small business referrals from store network, partner and COI referrals. Includes determination of their needs and originating appropriate products and services.

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of small business products and services as well as knowledge of competitors and competitive products. Proactively promotes and cross markets all bank products and services, including cash management/treasury services.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of client's needs, based on the review and analysis of personal and small business financial data gathered through meetings and relationship reviews as requested by the store.

  • Perform small business loan renewals for loans over $50,000.

  • Facilitate small business credit requests from the online channel and other referral sources (example: loan by phone).

  • Perform outbound telephone calling to small business prospects and customers as assigned.

  • Partner consistently with other internal business partners to uncover opportunities to attract new or deepen the client relationships.

  • Participates with local community organizations and local stores to maximize networking and relationship building opportunities in your home area.

  • Participates with management to plan business development opportunities (online and in market).

  • Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations that apply to your position and keep up to date on regulation changes.

  • Maintain working knowledge of our policies and procedures regarding the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations that apply to your position.


  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License required.

  • 1-5 years of relevant retail banking experience or equivalent.

  • Up to 3 years of relevant commercial or small business lending experience.

  • Proven strong relationship management abilities, analytical and problem-solving skills, strong sales skills and credit analysis skills.

  • Experience managing and developing relationships and ability to build those relationships.

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in cash management/treasury management services and solutions

  • Advanced knowledge of small business and other credit products and services that result in successfully capitalizing on all opportunities to offer the Bank's products.

  • Proven track record of success and skills in developing new clients and business, including prospecting, sourcing and networking.

  • Advanced knowledge of business credit policies, procedures, practices, documentation and structuring small business credits, including accounting, financial statement and cash flow analysis.

  • Proficient with personal computer and related software packages for loan origination.

Registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO)

This position requires you to act as a Bank MLO, which is defined as an individual authorized by the Bank to take mortgage loan applications, offer a mortgage, arrange a mortgage, assist a consumer in obtaining or applying to obtain a mortgage, negotiate a mortgage, otherwise obtain or make a mortgage for another person, represent to the public (through advertising or other means of communication) that such person can or will perform any of these activities, or refer a consumer to a loan originator (Note: Except those employees of the Bank who do not discuss particular credit terms available and do not refer the consumer, based on the employee's assessment of the consumer's financial characteristics to a particular Bank MLO) for compensation or gain. All MLOs will be required to register as an MLO complying with the SAFE Act requirements.

  • This position IS NOT authorized to act as a Bank Closed-End MLO, which is defined as any position designated to perform the activities of a Bank MLO for closed-end transactions, and therefore this position is limited to acting as a Bank MLO for open-end transactions (i.e., home equity lines of credit) only.
