Umpqua Bank Product Strategies Group Manager - Portland in Hillsboro, Oregon

Role is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the bank’s Product Development and Product management efforts, managing all product strategies for respective areas of oversight (i.e., Treasury Management or Consumer Banking). Ensures that the group of products is marketable, competitive, and profitable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Responsible for leadership, supervision, oversight and directs the work of product managers, ensures that individual products are integrated into an effective group of products. Develops strategies and marketing goals for the product group.

 Participates in pricing, advertising, and other marketing decisions. Monitors profitability, market penetration, and the achievement of other product goals.

 Oversees the coordination of operations, production, and other staff support personnel to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of services for the group of products.

 Determines profitable opportunities for the product group; develops and markets products.

 Keeps informed of current developments with regard to the assigned product group.

 Designs products to meet the needs of clients and prospective clients. Monitors efficiency of existing products and implements changes as necessary.

 Partners closely with Product Executive and Product Managers to develop the bank’s Product Road Map.

 Directs the continual optimization of a suite of products designed to address consumer and small business client needs, and to achieve the highest levels of customer service quality.

 Responsible for directing the day to day management of bank products and services, including evaluating overall profitability, quality, and strategic effectiveness of existing and new products, features and strategies.

 Develops, promotes and maintains an efficient new product development & product management infrastructure, including developing associated policies and procedures.

 Oversees and manages product performance analysis, competitive intelligence gathering, and profiling of competitor peers and products.

 Supports M&A activity by leading the Product team’s evaluation of and integration of target bank’s product suite.

 Assists in the development of cross selling and general marketing strategies for bank products.

 Maintains a working understanding of the core technological capabilities and future needs of the bank as it relates to Product Development and ongoing product maintenance.

 Liaises with and maintains close strategic cooperation with other functional areas, including (but not limited to) community banking, creative strategies, product operations support groups, and compliance.

 Participates in market/industry organizations as appropriate to keep informed of trends, directions and external influences impacting banking and bank product offerings.

 Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.

 Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.

 Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.

 May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - 2 to 10 employees

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 Requires a Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred or equivalent

 10 + years of relevant product management experience.

 5+ years of supervision and leadership experience in Product or related field

 Experience developing, modifying, and executing company policies that affect immediate operation(s) and company-wide effect.

 Ability to regularly interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions and/or customers.

 Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations.

 Excellent leadership, relationship management and business development abilities, analytical and problem solving skills.

 Proven track record of success in developing new clients and business, including prospecting, sourcing and networking.

 Ability to strategically identifies, hires, motivate and retains top talent.

 Expert knowledge of products management and services that result in successfully capitalizing on all opportunities to cross sell the bank’s products.

 Experience managing and developing others and ability to build and maintain relationships

 Excellent planning, budgeting and organization skills with the ability to change course (adaptable) at a moment’s notice.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Proficiency with personal computers and related software packages such as Word and Excel, and other business machines.

 Requires a master’s degree or equivalent, and proven track record in product management

 Ability to train and present to small and large audiences including Senior and Executive management or has the interest in learning to train and present.
